When my wife refused to acknowledge our daughter at the sports day, I divorced her on the spot Chapter 05
The school nurse hurried over and carefully cleaned and bandaged my daughter’s wounds.
Zhu Hao was wailing loudly, and Zhu Yang soon lost patience, handing his son off to another nurse for a check-up.
He turned to me with a sneer, his voice dripping with contempt:
“Some lowlife with no sense of the world, talking big as if anyone would believe you. My wife is the CEO of Shengxing Group—what kind of nobody dares to try and latch onto us?”
“Look at Liang Mei—does she even acknowledge you?”
“What kind of man are you, thinking you can compete with me?”
At his words, Liang Mei’s expression tightened, her face unreadable.
If I really did pull my investment, it would be a devastating blow to Shengxing. All ongoing projects would be cut off, and even if they poured in all their previous profits, it wouldn’t be enough to cover the losses.
Of course, if I actually withdrew, I’d lose money myself and end up in the red, too.
But Liang Mei knew I’d always loved her deeply—I could never bear to see her suffer.
She was betting that I wouldn’t really go through with it, that I was just bluffing to threaten her.
Thinking this, she stepped closer and whispered mockingly:
“Mu Jun, go ahead and do it if you dare. But remember, if we get divorced today, I’ll never take you back.”
“There’s no turning back. Think carefully.”
Regret?
I laughed coldly.
Just then, two understated black Maybachs pulled up at the kindergarten gate. Out stepped several sharply dressed executives in bespoke suits.
Someone with sharp eyes shouted:
“That’s the Shengxing Group logo! The top boss is here!”
Excitement rippled through the crowd, faces flushed as people craned their necks to see.
At the same time, they didn’t miss the chance to mock me:
“You and your daughter are done for now! You dared to hit CEO Liang’s son—now the real bosses are here, and you’ll be paying for this with everything you’ve got!”
One person even started filming us with their phone, broadcasting live:
“Netizens, check this out! This is how Haiyun City’s top company, Shengxing Group, deals with a father-daughter pair who try to climb the social ladder and hurt children!”
Zhu Yang glanced at Liang Mei with deep affection, then turned back to me, his face triumphant and arrogant. Zhu Hao, too, puffed out his chest, looking smug.
Liang Mei scanned the newcomers, her brow furrowing slightly.
The man at the head was Meng Xuan, Shengxing’s financial director—the backbone of her company, the keeper of its funds. Even she had to show him respect.
Why would he come here?
Zhu Yang lifted his chin and sneered at me:
“Mu Jun, if you and your daughter think you can bully us, you’ll be crawling out of here on your knees today.”
“Who do you think you are, a man who lives off women, daring to lay a hand on my son? Daring to try and take my wife?”
“I’ll make it clear: You and your daughter are finished!”
Liang Mei forced a composed smile and stepped forward to greet Meng Xuan before he could get close.
“Is something the matter at the company, Director Meng? What brings you here today?”
But Meng Xuan walked right past her. He stopped in front of me, bowed respectfully, and presented a contract with both hands.
“Mr. Mu, I’ve brought the divorce papers you requested.”
His voice was quiet, but it hit the crowd like a thunderclap.
Liang Mei’s lips trembled. Her perfectly manicured nails dug into her palms.
“Director Meng?” Her voice rose, sharp and unsteady.
The color drained from her face as she realized what was happening.
Zhu Yang’s triumphant smirk froze. Zhu Hao, sensing the sudden shift, stopped gloating and looked around in confusion.
The crowd, too, fell silent, their eyes wide with shock.
Meng Xuan ignored Liang Mei, his attention focused only on me.
“Mr. Mu, shall I proceed with the next steps as discussed?”
I nodded, my voice calm but firm.
“Yes. Withdraw all my investments from Shengxing immediately. Notify the board and all relevant departments. The marriage is over.”
Liang Mei’s breath caught.
“Mu Jun, you can’t be serious!”
But I didn’t even look at her.
I turned to my daughter, who was watching everything with wide eyes.
“Let’s go home, Tian-Tian.”
As we walked away, the crowd parted in stunned silence.
Behind us, Liang Mei’s voice cracked as she called out, but I didn’t turn around.
For my daughter and me, a new chapter had just begun.
